Is it time to travel back in ancient China?

Imagine hanging out at the Forbidden City amongst the Ming Dynasty or the Qing Dynasty and their imperial families.

Have a magical sip of the white or black sesame seeds milk, close your eyes and dream of the Imperial Palace with more than 8,700 bays, including magnificent palaces, splendid halls, grand towers, wonderful pavilions, and beautiful belvederes.

You will be amazed by the taste of the snowy or lava volcano milk, the vision of exquisite decorations on the roofs, eaves, walls, railings, pillars and the smell of incense.

The perfect dairy free milk and great as a base to your smoothies, oatmeal, chia-pudding or drink a glass on its own.

  • 1 cup white or black sesame seeds
  • 4 cups pure water
  • 2 dates, pitted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • pinch sea salt

Method for white or black sesame milk

Soak for two hours the sesame seeds in enough water .

Drain the sesame seeds and discard the soaking water.

Put the soaked sesame seeds and all the other ingredients in a blender and blend on high for 45 seconds to 1 minute.

Strain the milk through a muslin cloth.

I always keep the sesame pulp to use for tagines, casserole or cakes.

Store in a glass jar in the fridge up to 3 days.
